A bit dull movie. I dunno how i survived.. A bit draggy.. Something i won’t watch again.

I hardly concentrated. But what i remember is, they showed how her baby grew inside of her and the ordeals she had to face. The man who got her pregnant in the first place, transform from a loser to some one with future and is more serious..

Moral of the story : ALWAYS USE A CONDOM.

Story:

Chuck and Larry are fire fighters in New York. Chuck is single and is Mr February and has a string of really hot ladies with him where else, Larry is an overweight, widower who cant get over his wife and has 2 children (a boy and a girl) to care for. They are good friends and play basketball together during breaks.

One day, Larry saved Chuck life after he had a nasty fall of the ladder of a burnt building as the floor gave way. Chuck was goofing around with Larry, daring him to eat a burnt rat when the incident happen. Basically Larry cushioned Chucks fall (Haha!).. They were both rushed to the hospital. As Chuck tries his luck with the female doctor attending them which he calls ‘Doctor Honey’ who completely ignores him, Larry’s kids come for a visit and his daughter ended up crying as it as the same hospital that their mother died. About his kids, his son is somewhat a ’softie’ who is passionate about art and dancing and wears tight clothes (more like a girls top) while his daughter is more on the rough side and enjoys watching baseball matches. So Chuck says that he owes Larry one for saving his life and he could ask him for anything. As they leave the hospital, Chuck is attended by 5 Korean/ Japanese ladies, 2 of them i think are twins, and they follow Chuck home. Larry heads home too.

Larry is having some pension problem that he should have dealt with it when his wife passed away but as the time lapsed, the case closed and he is unable to transfer the beneficiary to his kids. He discovers that the only way he can do it is by remarrying (the clerk tries her luck with him too, saying she is single and stuff but it din work).. He then comes up with the idea of domestic partnership, and who else would he trust more other than his friend Chuck! So at 4 am, he goes over to Chuck’s house to discuss this with him (In Chuck’s house were the 5 Korean/ Japanese females and the doctor who as playing hard to get!). At first Chuck was reluctant, but then he finally agrees as they assume no one will find out about it. How wrong they were…….

They got registered and married.. (Chuck, not wanting to ruin his reputation as Mr February puts on a disguise).. Chuck changes his mailing address to Larry’s house and his playboy magazines and a ‘life size human doll’ was also mailed there (Larry’s daughter asked what it was, and was it a new doll for her, and the panicked dad said no! Its for him to practise his CPR on.. HAHA!).. But then they had a visit from the official to ensure this was not a scam on governments money. Despite declaring they have a lot of sex, the official was not convinced. So they decided to consult a lawyer, Alex McDonough (sexy Jessica Biel walks into the room).. Chuck was like as though he was struck by lightning and it as love at first for him but however, he had to be gay.. Jessica Biel informs them that if this was a scam, they could go to jail for a couple of years and if she knew about it and did not report it, she goes in as well.. Chuck and Larry insisted that they were very much in luv but they were in formed that they need lots of proofs like photographs and by legitimize their relationship by getting married. So they go off to Niagara Falls in Canada and got married there at a chapel conducted by an Asian Minister (played by Rob Schneider) [As we all know, Adam Sandler And Rob Schneider appears in each other's movies as guest] who went on and on about the significant of the ring and why is it circle (Coz there is no edges and never ending).. He then announces them “Husband and Husband” and he may kiss him, to which Chuck responded by giving a hard slap across Larry’s face.. They even have a witness (some beggar they picked up who was not mentally stable and has a lot of hatred but apparently a good dancer).. Once they get back to America, Chuck moves in with Larry and his unsuspecting children.

However, the specialist in investigating whether ppl form domestic partnership to gain personal advantage comes over for a visit and goes thru their trash, which he claims was not gay-ish enough. It was Clinton Fitzer (played by Steve Buscemi). So off for shoping they go to buy more ‘gay’ stuff (one of it was KY Jelly) and Chuck bumps into Alex, who then invites him and Larry to a costume party that night for gays. Larry goes dressing as an big giant apple while Chuck is a vampire. (There is cameo by David Spade dressed as a playboy bunny and him dancing away.. Chuck mistook him for Alex first from behind because of his slander legs.. HAHA) Alex is dressed as Catwoman and they meet her Hyper active Gay brother Mr. Butterfly.. He goes to the dance floor and does his stuff to his song and Chuck and Larry was made the attention of the circle to do their grooves but to cover up, they end up hugging each other romantically and the DJ changes the music, much to their relieve. Once the party was over, outside of the hall was protesters against gays and they were being quite hurtful(a scene was shown where a transsexual was crying at the remarks made and Chuck felt sorry).. As Chuck was walking away, one of them called him a faggot and he gives him a punch in his face, which lands Chuck on the front page covers.

Chuck and Larry was called in by their chief in the next morning to inform them that he knows of their scam and was not participating in it. He then had to separate both Chuck and Larry from the same shift because the other fire fighters felt uneasy with them and had sign a petition. Chuck goes home. Larry points out all the deeds Chuck had done for all of them and some do felt ab it shame for what they did. (Before this, their basketball buddies refused to play basketball with Chuck because he was a gay and they were afraid of him as he might grope them.. very hurting.. however as Chuck played by himself, one fierce looking fire fighter who had stories of him being a murderer circularised among them comes up and hugs Chuck, because he is gay too..). Larry also had a hard time at his sons Career Day because kids was asking him more about being a homosexual than his job as a fire fighter. A parent subsequently removed Larry as the kids coach of the baseball team and also a camp. This angers Larry and a few blows were given.

In the mean time, Chuck spend a lot of girly time with Alex.. Shopping, making friendship bracelets, massaging her feet and feeling her breast to ensure they were not fake! As they grew closer, one day, while Chuck was giving some love advice to Alex they end up passionately kissing. Alex backs out and apologizes for kissing a gay married man who happens to be her client. Chuck claims he’s never felt this way about a woman before, but Alex tells him to leave.

Chuck and Larry get into an argument while rescuing a man who was stuck on the chimney. Chuck tells Larry that because of the partnership, he can’t get close to Alex and the whole situation would never have happened if Larry had put his dead wife behind him and found a nice woman to marry (Cute scene as they looked like a married couple arguing..). Back home, Chuck, who have been teaching and encouraging Larry son’s to audition in a musical in his school to do the tap dance, encourages him to show his talent off to his dad and his performance makes Larry proud. Larry throws out his wife’s clothing and apologizes to Chuck for everything. They then hugged. (They have been sleeping in the same bed since moving in)…

Meanwhile, tabloids pick up on Chuck and Larry’s case (A centre page of 16 woman claiming to have slept with Chuck and it caused a much confusion with Alex, to which Larry responded that he knew of Chuck’s past and at that time Chuck was in denial of his sexual orient and was sleeping with many woman and he supported Chuck.. Alex was touched) and then, their court case becomes a media spectacle. They held each others hand as they walk into the courthouse. Inside the courthouse, Chuck and Larry meets the other firefighters who apologize and vow to stand with Chuck and Larry (One of the fire fighter actually asked Chuck in private why did he choose Larry and not him, and Chuck gave him a rating of 10, to which he was mocked by the ppl in the courthouse). During the court case, Chuck and Larry are grilled with personal questions. After testimony by Larry’s children, the case looks to be firmly on Chuck and Larry’s side. In a last ditch attempt, Clinton asks the couple to kiss. This was further encouraged by Alex’s brother.As they were about to lock lips, they were interrupted by the fire fighting Chief who admits that they are lying and his part in it but tells the judges that their lie has helped everyone around them and hurt no one. Clinton convinces the judge that it doesn’t matter since they still broke the law. As they were about to be arrested, the chief, all the fire fighters, Alex’s brother ( who actually felt betrayed at first but later forgave them for lying) and few gay ppl stood up against the judge to say that if Chuck and Larry was to go to jail, the court needs to arrest them too..

Unfortunately, they are actually all thrown in jail. Councilman shows up and tells Chuck and Larry he’ll drop all charges under two conditions: the firefighters have to admit that what they did was illegal, and the council will dismiss it as a misdemeanor, and they all have to make a gay calendar because Chuck and Larry are still heroes to the gay community. The calendar was made and Chuck and Larry was Mr December. The calendar was also to help fund raising for AIDS campaign.

Later, the cupid struck the fierce fire fighter and Alex’s brother and they were married at the same chapel, with the presents of both their parents and a host of fire fighters. As Chuck still has feelings for Alex and he was unsure if she has forgiven him, he goes over to talk to her by showing that he still wears the friendship bracelet that they made.. and she had hers on too on her ankle and then they danced.. At the reception, Larry is seen talking to a woman too..

And the last scene was, Chuck and Alex dancing a romantic song on the dance floor with all other couples and Chuck and Larry’s best man was there too dancing and the camera zooms out and fades away…………….

Ratatouille

I had the privilege to have the premier tickets to watch RATATOUILLE which will only be playing in cinemas on the 16th of August.. Well, the story basically about rat whop knows how to cook and who can cook!

Remy, is a rat who dreams of becoming a chef as he is inspired by on the greatest cook in whole of Paris, Mr Gusteau. He learns to cook by watching Gusteau’s tv show and from a cook book by Gusteau ‘Anyone can cook’ ( Yes, this rat is amazing… he reads… I wonder all the rats i see in Damansara Uptown which are as big as cats have this ability to cook and read… For all i know, they could be chef too! the secret of the rats is revealed!… ok back to the original story) Anyway, despite his father’s advice not be to be in close contact with humans, he risked it all and one fine day gets caught by the house owner and as she tries to kill Remy, her house ceiling falls and a whole colony of rats is discovered! So rats runs for their life and exercises their emergency evacuation plan but poor Remy got left behind as he wanted to take the cook book along with him. Thus, he is separated from his family of rats ( Thousands of them! he actually has one father and a really fat rat brother)…..

So he then sails and comes to a halt at at an unknown location. From exhaustion, he halucinates of Mr Gusteau, who at this time died because when he was the best chef he received a 5 star rating and a critic named Ego criticised his cooking and he downgrades by a star and he got so depressed that he died, and fell back another star (so his at one time famous restaurant is now a 3 star restaurant). SO Remy upon taking advice from Mr Gusteau, explores his surrounding and discovers, that he is Paris! ( before this he was in some small hut in the rural area) and right at Mr Gusteau’s restaurant! As he searches for food, he decided to steal but Mr Gusteau told him not too as he is a chef and should cook his own and so Remy inspired by that goes into the kitchen area… There he meets a boy (Yes, the one from the trailer) who gets hired as a garbage boy.. but he is so clumsy that he spills the soup and as he tries to cover up, he makes a whole mess of the soup.. This angers Remy, and then he comes to the rescue! he fixes the soup and is caught by Linguini (the skinny fellow who ruined the soup).. Then comes the scene that we are all very familiar with, the trailer where he talks to the rat and he apparently understands.

So then starts a journey of the rat and the boy of becoming the greatest chef of all time.. they form a code for them to communicate (by the rat sitting on his head and pulls his hair to coordinate him,,, done after much practice of course!) and it works and he makes great dishes.. This angers the Main Chef, Skinner who was plotting to take over the business.. Then SKinner discovers that Linguini is the actual heir to the business but Linguini did not know about it as he was not aware he was Mr Gusteau’s son! Skinner discovers this when Linguini wanted to b e employed in the restaurant, his mum wrote a letter to Skinner stated that he is the son, but does not know it.. Skinner is worried, in the will it states that if no heir comes to claim the business within a 2 yrs period from date of death then it will all go to Skinner.. and its only days away! But we have a very intelligent rat! he will discover the will and the letter from Linguini’s mum and pass it to Linguini (after having a race with Skinner).. and SAVES THE DAY!! Linguini takes control and as ego got into his head, he forgets to mention that it was the rat who was helping him out and he took all the credit.. oh ya, he calls the rat ‘Little Chef’

Somewhere in between, Remy the rat met his brother and thus his whole family.. So one days Linguini shouts at Remy and this angers him, so after closing time, he brings his whole colony of rats to rob the whole place of their food… Linguini felt bad for shouting at Remy that he begins a man hunt for Remy.. and while robbing the place, Linguini comes in and talks to Remy apologising but then he discovers what Remy was doing and was deeply upset with him.. The following day, the critic who made Gusteau basically die was coming to do a review and with Linguini inability to cook and everyone in the kitchen looking up to him, he was very pressured. As they were running out of time, Remy wanted to rescue Linguini but alas! he was caught by Skinner who had suspected that the rat was doing all the cooking and not Linguini. So he captures him in a cage (Remy gets caught trying to save his brother from getting trapped) and puts him in his car bonnet and goes to the restaurant to watch it topple by the critics review.

Remy, who has given up hope, was so demotivated. Mr Gusteau appears to him again, and he is inspired that his destiny was to be a chef after all. While trying to figure out of to escape, his father comes to the rescue. His father orders the rats to push a very heavy statue onto the booth to dent it slightly so that they cant slip to that gapping hole and rescue Remy and they did! As he escapes, he heads straight for the restaurant. Meanwhile as Linguini panics, Remy arrives to saves the day. Linguini then confesses his dirty little secret to the rest of the kitchen crew who in response did not take it well and quit their jobs on the spot, even Linguini’s sweetheart. The news did not settle well, and no crews was left.. Totally devastated to be left alone and knows the disaster of the restaurant, he retreats to his office and sits there.. But Remy did not give up hope.. as he tries to figure out, suddenly help arrives! In the form of rats!Thousands of them! his dad and the colony has come to the rescue and then all the rats actually following Remy’s orders began to cook! His father has finally accepted his sons dream of becoming a chef (tsk tsk..)

Meanwhile, Linguini’s sweetheart is seen weaping as she rides her bike (Motorbike that looks like TZM) and then she saw the book Mr Gusteau wrote, ‘Anyone can cook’ and she understood the meaning. So she heads back to the restaurant to help Linguini only to discover that her job was being taken over by other rats!but she is somehow given a meal to prepare while Linguini goes and waits tables.. As the critic waits for his food, Remy decided to cook him a very normal and common French dish, the Ratatouille (Its not rat in French, its a food name). Everyone is shocked as they were wondering how will that impressed the food critic, but as they were running out of time, Remy made the dish and as the critic took his first bite, there was a flash back for the critic to his childhood when he used to be sad, how his mum would cook him a Ratatouille.. the taste reminded him of his mum’s cooking! He was very impressed and he wanted to meet the chef, but was told by Linguini and his sweetheart that if he wanted to meet the chef, he had to wait till every customer has left and so wait he did. Then Linguini told him the truth and the whole story and the actual chef.. This shocked the critic but he kept quiet..

They were expecting the worse review but to their surprise, it was the best thing ever the critic had tasted. So ratings for the restaurant was up again but it had to be shut down due to hazard reasons because rats was cooking.. hmm how did the word got out? Well, Skinner after being fired knew the rat was behind all the cooking and had called the health inspector and it so happen that the inspector came when the rats were doing the cooking. They kidnapped the inspector and had to eventually let him go and thus the secret was out. Skinner too caught the rats cooking and was tied up along with the health inspector and later released.

So the critic got fired but its not over. He started a small business and is managed by Linguini and his sweetheart and guess who the chef? yes, its Remy and the restaurant’s name was Ratatouille The end.. Oh did i mention this is a spoiler?! Opps!

In the movie, the rat communicated with his fellow rats in English but to the human ears its just the sound that rats make.. Overall, good movie, from the graphics to the storyline.. Superb.. i wouldn’t mind watching it again, if some1 buys the ticket
